I had to laugh earlier too…I googled 'Philippine volcanoes' thinking I would get a lot of information to help me with Geology and up comes a listing for the national rugby team! Maybe they will be playing a game while we are there!
Here's a video about some birds (some endemic) to the Philippines.
I had to laugh earlier too…I googled 'Philippine volcanoes' thinking I would get a lot of information to help me with Geology and up comes a listing for the national rugby team! Maybe they will be playing a game while we are there! I have just found out that I will be based in Quezon City outside Manila with Paul Faircloth. Steve Shapiro will be close by in Manila. It is sinking in even more what an incredible opportunity I have been given with this TGC program. I have spent the last half hour trying to find out more about the area. I am also looking up nearby volcanoes and birding hotspots....everything I see will be new! Well....I am lucky....school has loaned me an I-pad mini.....I am seeing if it would work to travel with it. Would appreciate thoughts and ideas from people....The thing that is amusing me right now is that I think I called it the wrong name in the title of this post and now I have to learn how to edit the title. We had our first webinar last night with the Philippines Group. It was good to be back in touch with the people who I had met in DC.....we have about five weeks before we go and info should be coming our way thick and fast.
Afterwards I spent a little time looking at the news and came across these two recent articles: The Philippines Forgotten Generation and Being LGBT in Asia: The Philippines Country Report |
